Treasury Tunnel Tours

The Medina Grand Adelaide Treasury hotel works in partnership with the National Trust of South Australia to offer tours of one of South Australia's most significant historic buildings.

Treasury

The first building on the site was designed by George Strickland Kingston and built just two years after proclamation of the colony. Since then, the site has   witnessed many important episodes in South Australian history, such as the transporting of goldrush gold from Victoria to SA, the welcome home for explorer John McDouall Stuart, and innumerable decisions made in the Cabinet Room.

In 2002 the building was restored and redeveloped into a heritage hotel. As part of this award-winning work, many of the original internal building features that had previously been concealed were exposed and restored. Interpretive displays, plaques and photos are located throughout the building.

Tours include access to the underground tunnel and other selected areas including the Cabinet Room. Bookings are available for groups of 10 or more throughout the year.  Proceeds go to the National Trust.

  National Trust Members: $50.00

  General Public: $60.00

Join us for a tribute to South Australia's 175th Anniversary and to celebrate the establishment of colonial Adelaide.

This special event is to also recognise the many years since Sir Henry Ayers and his family first took residence in this breathtaking, historic home. Guests are invited to experience a traditional Victorian High Tea, which was a very common social pastime during Sir Henry Ayers era.

High tea will be served in the famous Ayers House Ballroom. Guests' ears will be enlightened by the beautiful combination of melodies from the talented Stodart pianist, Vanessa Ruggerio and sweet vocals of Sarah Pattichis.

Following the high tea and live entertainment, guests will then be invited to take a look closer into the lives of the Ayers family. Guests will have the opportunity to access the many historic rooms of the grand house with the guidance of Ayers House Museum's very own tour guides.

This unique event gives guests the exclusive and memorable experience of being a part of one of South Australia's proud cultural and heritage celebrations.
