Moonta Mines Sweet Shop

The shop was once a post office, and was erected in 1946 and closed on June 30, 1976. At the time of closing the post office was said to be the smallest post office in operation in South Australia. The old post office is now a sweet shop, open seven days a week and run by volunteers. It stocks old-fashioned drinks as well as Coke and water. The old-fashioned sweets are made by a South Australian Company. The shop also caters for children’s needs with the latest sweets. Ice-creams are also a favourite. The shop is visited by school groups and bus tours from all over the State.
