This fine example of marine engineering originally stood on the Margaret Brock
Reef off Cape Jaffa in the south west of South Australia.
It is one of the very few lighthouses which includes living quarters in the main
structure. It operated for one hundred years and was then given to the Kingston Branch
of the National Trust in 1972. The lighthouse was dismantled and re-erected in the town.
The Kingston National Trust Museum is located in Cooke Street. This building was
originally a timber yard and later a general store; it houses many items connected
with local history. Items include shipping and drainage records, photographs, articles
telecommunication, horse drawn vehicles as well as agricultural and domestic displays.
The whole area has recently been reorganised for better viewing and convenience.
