The Sheep’s Back Museum, Naracoorte

The Sheep’s Back The building was constructed in 1870 as a flour mill. It is now an award winning museum of the wool industry. Enjoy its sights, sounds and smells, and find out about the people who worked there; the owners, shearers, rouseabouts and pressers. See how lifestyles changed and techniques and tools influenced the development of this important industry. The new Limestone Landscapes Exhibition provides an overview of how the region’s landscapes were formed and the impact of this on the flora, fauna and people. It forms a significant background to both Naracoorte Caves and Sheep’s Back exhibits. A craft shop sells quality crafts with an emphasis on wool. The Sheep’s Back shares its entrance with the Naracoorte Visitor Information Centre.
